Sep 23, 2008 – Fresh reports released today by the Times indicate that the Olympic Delivery Authority and the London Development Agency will be investing up to £20 million on training people in order to meet the construction timescales for the 2012 Olympics.

The Construction Centre said that the issue of migrant workers returning home was only part of the problem. With reducing timescales and an industry possibly on the brink of recession, it was important to not only fix the problem in the short term but also look at the long term consequences and solutions to the skills shortage crisis. The investment will train British workers in skills which are most needed such as electrical work and alongside this a further 4000 people will be trained for specialist skills.

Real estate and development decision-makers will gather in Denver on Friday, Nov. 7, for the Rocky Mountain Commercial Real Estate Expo and Fall Forecast.

The 14th annual expo will be held from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th St. It’s sponsored by the University of Denver’s Franklin L. Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management and the Denver Metro Commercial Association of Realtors.

The expo will feature the latest information on submarkets and product types in the metro area, and will offer numerous educational and networking events. Twenty-five speakers will participate in six sessions, with topics such as “Economic Update,” “Setting the Stage of Downtown Denver,” “Colorful Colorado: Painting The Future” and “The Art of Politics.”

During the expo, Sherman Miller, executive managing director and west regional manager of Cushman & Wakefield of Colorado Inc., will be named the 2008 Honorary Dean of Real Estate and Construction Management. Additionally, the winner of the 2008 Project of the Year award will be announced.
